2012 GM MASTER CUP - TAYTAY HAMAKA FESTIVAL -MARCH 3
The first Taytay LRRP shoot for the year - our first two rifle event, one rifle for Action Shooting and another rifle for Long Range Sniping. This coming at the end of the TAYTAY HAMAKA Festival which our dear LRRP Taytay Mayor Georic has wonderfully staged and this event will be a befitting event to close the Festival. This event brought about after the HP shooting by Randell Tambongco and hosted by our one of our TOP BR shooters Gilbert Manela - hence GM Master Cup. We would like to also thank the Bench Rest Group our affiliate Discipline for giving way as they usually reserve the first week of the month for their excellent shoots. Thanks Richard Fernandez, Ron Robles, and Chito Clemente - such is the camaraderie in the Rimfire community.
Four fast and furious stages for the Action Shooting event based on IPSC type of rules. This should prove to be quiet a popular format and an easy entry for all our new LRRP shooters out there. Nice thing here is that once PPSA has a match, we can rerun it in the Action Shooting Format in 22LR. This was first done and shown to us by our own Doc Alvin aka Eyecutter - with the Back to Bakal competition held at the ARMSCOR SHOOTING RANGES wherein he ran shotgun, handgun, and rimfire courses on the same PPSA courses. Bottom line - everyone enjoyed and so he started a trend and we will follow as that is what our shooting population likes and has fun with. So expect more of this fun and exciting type of shooting. You can actually be competitive with an out of the box ruger and some large capacity magazines - you don't even need a scope, and you can win with the basic configuration. Some of us will add red dots, others will add M4 type scopes - whatever it is, to describe this action, I would say it is the closest to being a Navy Seal and shooting Bin Laden. For all you weekend warriors out there this is the type of course we can play - all thanks to Doc Alvin Agustin - who I will now call the father of Rimfire Action Shooting.
To complete the events is the 22 Long Range Sniper course. We will be using our metal plates (torso and head sizes) connected to microphone actuators - an idea given by Franklin Hollifer (one of our ardent LRRP supporters and fantastic event organizer). The actuators activate once hit a 10 second strobe which can be viewed by all. Targets will be at distances of 225 and 290 meters so watch for the wind. This I believe will be our first 2012 Sniping course with more to come. This is an intro course wherein the shooter will be able to see his shots or misses and adjust. Those who are great and lucky will get the plates in the first hit, those very good in the second hit, and good ones in the third hit. If you are unlucky and get hit by gusts of winds you will hit the target with your fourth or fifth shot. Scoring will be 100 points for the first hit, 80 for a second hit if you miss the first, and 60 for the third and so on. This is a nice intro to long range competition and it is within the Metro Manila area.
Aside from the matches we will be having Budbud (a Taytay delicacy like by myself, Louie Gonzales and the lovely but deadly Maria Parsons) plus a lechon given by Bong Samonte. Jun Punzalan and Joe Guerrero have likewise given donations. Other have given but I have still to be informed. We also have a pledge of sorts from dear George Chua of ARMSCOR.
So come join us to shoot, watch, eat, and have fun with the rest of the guys and girls of LRRP.

2011 MENONG LRRP CUP Taytay, Dec 11, 2011
Our last official shoot beofre the year ends - four stages of supposedly simple yet compelling shooting. Our celebrated Menong Naval... for those of you who never met him he is a must met. Four stages the first with a rope trick which shooters must get a hang of to get used to (no pun intended), the sitting and hitting (not bench resting), the third a fast paced standards (I will get cursed for this one), and the fourth stage - the problem is not shooting it is finding the shooting solution or path to the target. Intrigued - well then check out the COF below and come and join us.

2011 KAIMO LRRP CUP Taytay, Oct 30, 2011
A nice shoot designed by yours truly and his partner Sir Gerry Kaimo - to celebrate the Birthday of Gerry Kaimo who so generously donated the trophies postions 1-5 for both semi-auto and manual divisions plus LRRP giving out our glass medals for positions 6-10 for both divisions. A match wherein we combine accuracy with controlled speed - in some instances you are allowed unlimited rounds but with the condition of only 5 bullets to one magazine. We are using our new shiloutte targets with larger ten and eight zones - all in stage one, For stages two to four we are using metal resettable plates to make the flow faster. For the fifth stage - 6 inch or so balloons... if there is a wind there will be movement and the challenge. Targets will be from 25 meters to as far as 103-109 meters with shots at angles from above. As they say something different, something new - a fitting way to end the month of October and greet Kaimo a Happy Birthday.

Ortega Cup LRRP Match - La Union August 19-21, 2011
A very very nice course designed by Franklin from Cebu aka John Clark - The match gives us a taste of the standards with a little bit of steriods having to shoot three postions with a little running under score over time. The Second stage is a 25 yard (not meters mind you) ala bench rest with a twist. Quiet interesting to say the least. The Third stage is out of Sniper hide and Rifles only - shooting from an incline (aka like a roof) and shooting from a moving platform - add to this that you only know there are 10 targets ranging from 35 to 120 yards TBA (to be announced on the day of the shoot) makes it a formidable challenge...One of the more interesting shoots of the year - I advise all to try it out.

LRRP-Bolo Cup Match - Marikina July 16-17, 2011
Twenty five meters to possible seventy meters, sitting, prone, and freestyle in two courses of fire; with a rifle raffled in to add to the excitement. Hostages in windows and silhouette targets to shoot for a day and then one can still go to the gunshow - unless one wants to join the other divisions (Manual, Semi-auto, and Armscor rifle division) or unless you want to reshoot in any division you are qualified in. Sporter rifles, target rifles, expensive rifles - bring what you have and shoot!

Medium Long Range Match - Taytay May 22, 2011
Thirty five meters to One hundred meters - Metal targets ala our Splendido match and paper targets at 100-105 like a bench rest match. The best of both worlds, try it you may like it and become addicted to the wonderful world of Long Range Rimfire. Our first at the Taytay range where we can expect winds, dust, and nice long long ranges just fifteen minutes from Ortigas extension (sans traffic).

April 17, 2011 LRRP ARMSCOR BARRICADE Match
A Medium range match, this is the first score over time (Virginia count match of the LRRP) - so expect it to be fast paced, pressured (those with weak hearts take heed) and expect a lot of fumbles and possible procedurals. A barricade composed of two tires (Dunlops I believe - nothing but the best for our shooters) wherein the shooter has to shoot from the low tire in a cramped prone position, then the second tire in a psuedo standing position, then on top of the tires (if you are short - you got problems not only with the girls but also with the tires), after which you shoot from the sides of the barricade - all without stepping out of bounds of the shooting box - as fast as you can shoot accurately. The range will be from 70-35 meters, a rather awkward range so get your dope books and your bullet drops in. This is a Virginia count so make sure bullets and rifle are flawless...As most shooters do not have enough magazines for 25 rounds of continuous firing, we have kept the relays to 5 shots per string. For each string you start a few feet away from the firing box and you cannot chamber out of the box - so expect some procedurals here - this has to be done five times so there is a bit of physical abuse as well as the usual mental trauma in this course. The three inch plates are very unforgiving. Was thinking of four or six inch plates - but it was too easy, and I know LRRP shooters don't want it easy.

Course of Fire for Long Range Match in Splendido dated March 27, 2011
This is our first long range match with ranges from 50 meters to 300 meters and this is also the first time we are introducing reloading into the par times. A completely metal plate course due to the strong winds in the area - this should prove to be quite a learning and fun experience for all those that shoot it.
Essentially 50 rounds of tense long range shooting wherein the shooter must not only know his bullets drops, how to read the wind, but also must have perfect ammo as each stage will limit the carry load to the stage requirement or in effect mission specific carry loads with no extras.
The first stage is entitled Siege and the shooter takes out 25 targets from behind a sand bag wall all within a specific time frame. Shades of Carlos Hatchcock when he encountered a whole troop and kept them pinned down the whole day. Here the shooter will have to adjust from 50 meters all the way out to 150 meters. Easy in a windless situation, challenging with the winds and time pressure.
The second stage is entitled Patrol. Here you take out 15 targets ranging from 150 to 200 meters.
The third stage is called Bonus - bonus because if you hit the targets (250 and 300 meters) in the expected windy conditions - then it is indeed a blessing and a bonus.

New 2011 Horizontal Standard Exercise for LRRP Jan 23 2011 Match
There will be a short 25 round short/medium range match at the ARMSCOR shooting range in Marikina on Sunday Jan. 23 , 2011. This is our first match for the year 2011 and we are introducing our new starting position (port arms) which is now incorporated into our courses of fire. Please note that we will be running the course fast so there will be no practice shooting or sighting in on the range proper. We will start early registration which will be open by 8:30 am and closed by 10:00 - in this manner we hope to finish all shooters by one or two pm at the latest. Additional PPSA rifle rule is that a shooter must choose which division to join either bolt or semi, the shooter cannot choose both for score, you can however shoot both but only one counts and that must be your first try. Please download the course of fire and check out the additional rules and the new target. See you there.
